Questions for today:
We began this letter with a verse promising ‘tranquility’ for our charitable ‘effort’. how does this work?
We are learning how when we reveal a high level of G-dliness we unite worldly opposites leading to an inner ‘tranquility’.
As an example of how supernal G-dliness supersedes any physical limits and divisions, we see how a lottery – above intellect – was used on Yom Kippur to rise above our sins, and even Haman attempted this on Purim.
Haman wanted to tap into a level of the Creator that was so aloof that his evil, and the Jewish people's good, were equal. [We celebrate Purim because even at that level the Creator chose the Jews.]
When we give generously to people that don't deserve, we access a level of G-dliness that unifies all of our spiritual characteristics – including our natural, animalistic, characteristics involved in the giving.
Now, when we're doing this from our natural spiritual urge to give, this revelation comes as a ‘guest’ and unites our being temporarily.
However, when we break through all of our physical – and even our spiritual - boundaries, we illuminate the darkness by fighting our natural, selfish, instincts.
When we do this, the pleasure we bring the creator reveals such a level of G-dliness that there are no barriers.
This spirituality doesn't just become an 'experience', it becomes part of who we are.
