Questions for today:
What can we limited humans possibly do, to invoke involvement from the Creator such that supersedes the distinction between finite and infinite?
We learned yesterday that kindness and judgment aren't just a little different, they are opposites.
Kindness is like water that ‘goes down’. Kindness gives everybody, indiscriminately. Judgment is like fire that goes up. Judgment says, everything depends on the recipient.
We learned that when we reveal their source in an Infinite Undefined Creator, they can get together and do something productive - like acts of mercy.
However, the gap between finite and infinite is enormous. How do we draw down that level of G-dliness above both of them, bringing them together?
We do that when we break through our own barriers and give charity to people that don't deserve it all.
In fact, the G-dliness that we bring down when we do acts of charity doesn't just unite ‘characteristics’ or spiritual angels - it has an impact in this world.
When we ultimately end the struggle between good and evil in the messianic era, that will happen because of the G-dliness we draw down through our acts of charity.
We do a little bit of this messianic unification every day when we pray and when we study Torah. This is why the sages say that before we pray we should give a little charity
